General Terms and Conditions

1 Courses

1.1 Students may start their course on any Monday during the year, except for examination courses which start on specific dates. If students booking group courses are not able to attend all classes during their stay they will not be entitled to extra lessons to recover those lost.

1.2 No tuition is held on public holidays (01 January, 10 February, 19 March, 21 March, 31 March, 1 May, 7 June, 29 June, 15 August, 8 September, 21 September 8 December, 13 December & 25 December); however, the school will do its best to recover lost hours.

1.3 The General English Group course is not available at Beginner level. Beginners enrolling on this course will receive 5 Private Tuition lessons per week instead of the 20 General Group lessons per week booked. Students at Beginner level may choose to book the General English Private Tuition Course.

1.4 Tuition prices include all EFL course materials. Course books are loaned to the students and are to be returned at the end of the course. Students should bring pens, pencils and writing paper with them.

1.5 Prices of Examination Courses are not inclusive of examination fees and course books. Course books for examination courses are charged separately.

1.6 All lessons are of 45 minutes duration. Classes are held in the morning from 09:00 to 10:30 and from 11:00 to 12:30 or in the afternoon from 13:30 to 15:00 and from 15:30 to 17:00. On the first day students should come to the school at 08:15. Students taking Intensive English will also have lessons in the afternoon. The school reserves the right to alter any course or change the timetable if and when necessary.

1.7 The school reserves the right not to award a certificate of attendance to students who are absent for more than twenty percent of their lessons without reasonable justification.

1.8 The minimum age for students attending a course is 13 years old.

2 Activities

2.1 The school organises cultural and leisure activities. Students are charged extra for these activities unless it is specifically stated that the price of any course is inclusive of such activities.

3 Accommodation

3.1 Accommodation is charged per person per week. Stays of less than 5 nights in a week are charged pro-rata.

3.2 Upon arrival students will be allowed to check-in to the room of their chosen accommodation after 14:00. On the day of departure students must vacate the room by 09:00. Students who require early check-in or late check-out must inform the school in writing at least two weeks prior to arrival. Should the room be available students will be asked to pay an extra charge for use of the room.

3.3 Host Family accommodation consists of shared room accommodation, breakfast and an evening meal (Half Board). A packed lunch (Full Board) and a single room can be booked at an extra cost.

3.4 Shared Apartment accommodation consists of self catering apartments (no meals are included). Shared rooms are available and a single room can be booked at an extra cost. A refundable damage deposit of Euro 100 per person is to be paid on the first day at school.

4 Airport Transfer

4.1 Airport transfers are charged at an extra cost unless specifically stated that the package price is inclusive of airport transfers.

4.2 Students booking Shared Apartment accommodation must book our airport transfer service in order to receive the key to the apartment.

4.3 Arrival flight details must reach our offices not later than 5 days prior to the arrival date. Failure to do so may cause cancellation of the arrival transfer.

5 Expulsion

5.1 The school reserves the right to expel students from school for lack of attendance and from school and / or accommodation for unacceptable behaviour. No refund will be given in such a situation and repatriation is at the student痴 expense.

6 Supervision

6.1 Unaccompanied minors (under 18) are not provided with supervision after lesson times.

7 Visas

7.1 It is strongly recommended that students do not finalise any travel arrangements before the visa confirmation is received from the Immigration Office. Linguatime will not be held responsible for any visa refusals and will not be liable to pay compensation.

8 Liability / Insurance

8.1 Students must pay for any damage made to school / accommodation property.

8.2 It is strongly recommended that students take out a personal insurance cover including travel insurance and medical and repatriation cover. Linguatime will not be held responsible for any accident, loss or damage to students or to their belongings arising during their stay in Malta.

9 Payment & Cancellations

9.1 Course fees and accommodation costs must be fully paid not later than two weeks prior to the commencement of the course. A 20% non-refundable deposit is payable on booking a course. Fees and costs are payable by bank transfer or by credit card. Bank charges must be added to the fees when effecting payment. All credit card payments must include an additional 3% charge to cover bank credit charges.

9.2 Where a cancellation is received at least two weeks before the start of the course, all fees will be refunded less 20% deposit.

9.3 No refund will be made when students withdraw from the course/ accommodation/leisure activities, shorten their course/accommodation or fail to attend classes, however, in certain cases the school may, at its discretion, offer credit for a future course/accommodation/leisure activities.
